Objective: This study aimed to explain the developmental consequences of the interactive God-servant relationship based on Allameh Tabataba'i's perspective in Tafsir al-Mizan and to propose a psychological model.
Method: This qualitative research employed the grounded theory method. Purposeful sampling was conducted from all relevant verses in Tafsir al-Mizan, and data were analyzed through open, axial, and selective coding. Content validity of the findings was confirmed using CVI and CVR indices by 7 experts in psychology and Islamic sciences
Findings: The findings revealed that the interactive God-servant relationship can be distinguished in two directions. In the servant→God direction, consequences such as obedience, satisfaction, monotheism, and pure worship in the cognitive dimension; peace of heart, attachment, and humility in the emotional dimension; divine assistance, blessing, and good fate in the behavioral dimension; and bestowal and salvation in the otherworldly dimension were identified. In the God→servant direction, consequences such as servitude attainment, dignity, and spiritual insight in the cognitive dimension; peace and intimacy with believers in the emotional dimension; forgiveness, mercy, assistance, and prayer fulfillment in the behavioral dimension; and praiseworthy destiny and victory in the otherworldly dimension were identified.
Conclusion: Based on the results, the interactive God-servant relationship is not only the foundation of spiritual excellence but also has direct effects on mental health, social adjustment, and life expectancy. The proposed model can be applied in spiritually integrated psychotherapy and religious counseling.
